About the Course
Medical and community social workers are often called upon to manage the social and psychological reactions of clients and their caregivers especially in times of crisis and traumatic events. This course equips social workers and allied health professionals with knowledge and skills to support individuals undergoing crisis situations or traumatic events by applying an evidenced -based model to enable clients to stabilise and cope with their stressful situations.
This course additionally emphasises trauma-informed practices in social work practice. Social workers could forge therapeutic connections, build trusting working relationships and provide effective interventions to clients and their caregivers. A trauma-informed lens would highlight the importance of self-care of professionals who are exposed to the distressed experiences of individuals they work with.
