Significance and potential impact of practice research
The primary objective of practice research is to produce research for practice and turn it into intervention, training, and teaching materials.
Practice research projects have the potential to:
- improve the accessibility, delivery and design of services
- enhance the well-being of service users
- contribute to policy discussions at the agency and/or governmental levels
LCG Grant Selection and Award Process
The LCG Secretariat organises a practice research seminar a few months prior to announcing the LCG Grant Call.
Academic Consultations A month prior to the submission of applications, we announce a schedule for Academic Consultations, where social work practitioner-researchers or their research team members could obtain clarifications or guidance from NUS Social Work Department academics about the research project they are keen to undertake.
Grant Application Period
Following the announcement of the Grant Call interested parties are given one full month to submit their grant application.
Selection Process
At the end of the Grant Application Period a Selection Committee is put together to independently review the research proposals received. Following months of stringent deliberations the Selection Committee makes their recommendations to the LCG Steering Committee. The actual number of LCG Grant Awardees will depend on the quality of the submissions.
Application Process Timeline
The application timeline may look somewhat like this:
