The newest LCG Grant Awardees from St Andrew's Community Hospital, SPD Ltd and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities FSC (Bedok North) presented at the Seventh International Conference on Practice Research at the Singapore University of Social Sciences. LCG Director, A/P Choo Hyekyung also joined a round table discussion on Philanthropy and Practice Research on 8 July.

Inaugural Singapore Social Work Practice Research Conference. Prof Lynette Joubert, Professor of Social Work at the University of Melbourne's School of Health Sciences; Prof Ian Shaw, then S R Nathan Professor of Social Work and Emeritus Professor at the University of York, England; Prof Lars Uggerhoj, Professor of Social Work from the University of Aalborg, Denmark; and Associate Professor Timothy Sim from the Hongkong Polytechnic University. The first LCG Grant Call is also made.

Launch of the Mrs Lee Choon Guan Endowed Research Fund featuring a public lecture on social work practice research by Prof Jill Manthorpe, Professor of Social Work at King's College, London. This was followed from September onwards by a series of public lectures to expand local knowledge on practice research. Lecturers included then S R Nathan Professor of Social Work, Dr Ian Shaw from the University of York, United Kingdom; Associate Prof Timothy Sim from the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR.
