A series of public lectures on social work practice research to expand the knowledge base among social work practitioners and students begins: What is Good Practice Research by then S R Nathan Professor of Social Work, Dr Ian Shaw from the University of York, United Kingdom; Service Evaluation and Development in Jan 2018 by Associate Prof Timothy Sim from the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR.

Inaugural Singapore Social Work Practice Research Conference. Prof Lynette Joubert, Professor of Social Work at the University of Melbourne's School of Health Sciences; Prof Ian Shaw, then S R Nathan Professor of Social Work and Emeritus Professor at the University of York, England; Prof Lars Uggerhoj, Professor of Social Work from the University of Aalborg, Denmark; and Associate Professor Timothy Sim from the Hongkong Polytechnic University. The first LCG Grant Call is also made.
