Undergraduate Students of AY2019/20 and AY2020/21 Cohorts (excluding Yale-NUS students)
We would like to inform students doing their Second Major in Social Work that these are the latest developments in the graduation requirements:
Second Major in Social Work:
Please note that while the University is decreasing the graduation requirements for 2nd majors to 40 MCs, Social Work’s graduation requirements are as follows:
- For AY2019/20 cohort (No Change to Graduation Requirement)
Pass at least 48 MCs of Social Work or Social Work recognized courses for Second Majors including SW1101E.
- For AY2020/21 cohort (New Change)
Pass at least 44 MCs of Social Work or Social Work recognized courses for Second Majors including SW1101E.
The curriculum structure that is in place helps to prepare students for professional readiness and competencies to practice as Social Workers. Every cohort will have at least one elective to apply theories and skills in at least one practice setting.
Minor in Human Services:
For students who are taking Minor in Human Services, Social Work will follow the University to reduce the graduation requirements:
- For both AY2019/10 and AY2020/21 Cohort (New Change)
Accumulate at least 20 units of Social Work courses for a Minor in Human Services
Students who declare Social Work as major after 1st semester of 1st year
