Thesis title: The Historiography of Singapore's History: Uncovering the changes in the Singapore historical narrative and its relationship with Singapore's political economy from the 1980s to the present (Tentative)

My study focuses on the historiography of the official narrative of Singapore from her independence to recent times. This official narrative has undergone many ideological shifts and changes, but its core narratives have always been tied to the political and economic necessities that the Singapore government deemed as its priorities. Through textbooks and alternative media representations of these narratives, I endeavour to explain the changes in Singapore's national narrative from its past to present iterations, while foregrounding political and economic necessities of Singapore during the different periods and historical contexts that these narratives thrived in.
