Proposed Thesis Title: Proving our medicine is real: Commercial Chinese Medicine in Singapore, from 1970 to 1990
Advisor: Assistant Professor Kung Chien-Wen
My interest in history has been there since my childhood, so it was natural I would pursue it for higher education. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History (Highest Distinction) from NTU in 2022 & took up a Master’s Research at NUS the following year, under my supervisor Professor Kung Chien Wen’s Sinospheric Spheres project.
Broadly speaking, my research interests lie in the history of Chinese culture in Singapore, Chinese medicine, business history & advertising/popular culture. I like to explore the connection between culture and wider social developments, as well as where those “fragments of our past” that linger in our present come from.
When I’m not mulling over my research, I live a chill life watching YouTube videos, listening to podcasts, visiting museums & disturbing the community cats in my neighbourhood.
