BHOOMIKA JOSHI

Bhoomika Joshi is an anthropologist (Yale University ’23) of the Indian Himalayas, development, mobility, caste, and gender. Her work has been published in Cultural Anthropology, Economic and Political Weekly, Issues and is forthcoming in South Asia: Journal of South Asian Studies and the American Anthropologist. She has also written for public academic forum like Sapiens (Wenner-Gren Foundation) and Platypus (Committee for the Anthropology of Science, Technology and Computing) and her research is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Social Science Research Council (SSRC). She is a bilingual writer and translator, and author of Lachchhi: The Newness of Nostalgia (Vani Publications 2020). She is committed to strengthening interdisciplinary methods and teaching in the social sciences and humanities as well as in building a multilingual pedagogical approach. She has previously studied at the University of Oxford (UK) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (India).
