My proposed research focuses on Singapore’s matured neighbourhoods and how they have taken (or are taking) on new meanings through state and private-led placemaking strategies. I intend to consider the process and transformation of the public spaces in these neighbourhoods, the views of the residents and the emotional geographies attached to change. I hope to uncover what it takes to transform a physical space into a place that holds collective memories and experiences and how to make Singapore more liveable and lovable.
