Sigit SasmitoSigit Deni Sasmito is a wetlands ecologist who has particular research interests to study the impacts of contemporary global change on tropical wetland ecosystems including peatlands and mangrove. Currently, his research is focused to improve current understanding of terrestrial carbon cycle in tropical peatlands using both global scale systematic review approach and landscape scale field assessment. In NUS, he is mainly working on the assessment of carbon fluxes mechanism between vegetation-soil-atmosphere interfaces under different range of peatlands management regimes by using stable isotopes and radiocarbon approaches. The outcome of his current research will be contributed to the science of tropical peatlands restoration and decomposition.

Sigit holds a PhD in Environmental Science from Charles Darwin University, Australia and BSc in Applied Meteorology from IPB University, Indonesia. He has also previously extensive working experiences with The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR).
