Dr Utkarsh is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (NUS), specializing in land-atmosphere exchange processes. He holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology (Prgm. ESPM, Div. of Env. & Sust.) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). During his doctoral studies, he developed the UACM, a new computationally efficient multilayer urban model within the WRF model framework, to enhance urban meteorology modelling. His work focused on improving the accuracy of wind patterns, atmospheric vertical structure, and the urban heat island (UHI) effect in large cities.

Currently, he is working with the Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS), where he is involved in the development and evaluation of the 100-meter uSINGV, a customized version of the UK Met Office Unified Model (UM). His research aims to improve the prediction of extreme rainfall and wind events in Singapore, contributing to better weather forecasting and climate resilience in the region.
