Concurrent Degree Programme – Clinical Psychology
The Concurrent Degree Programme – Clinical Psychology (CDP-CP) offers an accelerated pathway to complete both the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) and the Master of Psychology (Clinical) in five years, instead of the usual seven. The curriculum integrates the full requirements of both programmes.
Students who register their interest will be pre-allocated compulsory Psychology courses and must meet grade requirements each semester to progress and receive pre-allocation of higher-level courses. Students who meet the grade requirements and succeed in the Clinical Internship selection interview will undertake the internship. Following the successful completion of the Clinical Internship, eligible students may apply for the CDP-CP and will then be evaluated for their suitability for Clinical Psychology training through a clinical interview and role-play.
Admission to the CDP-CP will be highly competitive and selective. There are 3 broad categories of criteria for selection. Candidates have to pass all 3 categories of selection criteria in order to be eligible.

1. What is the CDP-CP?
A: A 5-year, full-time Concurrent Degree Programme with a clinical focus that awards both the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) [B.Soc.Sci. (Hons.)] and the Master of Psychology (Clinical) [M.Psych. (Clin.)] degrees.
2. What is the structure of the CDP-CP?
A: Students take undergraduate courses (for the B.Soc.Sci. [Hons.]) in the first 3 years, followed by graduate courses (for the M.Psych. [Clin.]) in the last 2 years.
3. What degrees will CDP-CP students graduate with?
A: Both the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) and the Master of Psychology (Clinical).
4. How does the CDP-CP differ from completing the B.Soc.Sci. (Hons.) and M.Psych. (Clin.) separately?
A: The CDP-CP is an accelerated pathway that enables completion of both degrees in 5 years. Doing them separately typically takes about 7 years (4 years undergraduate + 1 year work experience + 2 years graduate). The undergraduate curriculum in the CDP-CP is also more clinically focused.
The B.Soc.Sci (Hons.) and M.Psych. (Clin.) route instead focuses on building a broader foundation in Psychology for the undergraduate curriculum before specialising in clinical work. This allows students to gain a deeper understanding of various other aspects of human behaviour. This is the usual route for most aspiring clinical psychologists.
Due to the high competitiveness of the CDP-CP, only a small cohort will be admitted.
5. What are the career prospects for CDP-CP graduates?
A: Graduates of the existing M.Psych. (Clin.) are regularly employed in public healthcare and community sectors. CDP-CP graduates are expected to be similarly sought after.
6. When will the CDP-CP be launched?
A: AY2026/27, Semester 1 (August 2026).
7. Which cohorts are eligible to take the CDP-CP?
A: Cohort 2026 onwards.
8. How many intakes are there per year?
A: One intake per year.
9. When will students be formally admitted to the CDP-CP?
A: From Year 4, Semester 1.
10. What is the total duration of the CDP-CP?
A: 5 years full-time (3 years undergraduate + 2 years graduate).
11. Who can apply for the CDP-CP?
A: Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, and international students. Students must apply to the College of Humanities and Sciences (CHS) in NUS and choose Psychology as their major during their first three years. If they are selected and complete the clinical internship, they will be eligible to apply for the programme. If accepted, they will be admitted to the programme in their fourth and fifth years.
12. Can non-Psychology majors be considered for the CDP-CP?
A: No. Only Psychology majors are eligible.
13. How large are the cohorts?
A: We will admit about 10 students per cohort, with plans to growing the cohort size subsequently .
14. How competitive is admission to the CDP-CP?
A: Admission is highly competitive and selective, requiring strong academic performance, successful completion of the undergraduate Clinical Internship, and positive outcomes in a post-internship interview and role-play.
15. Am I automatically admitted into the CDP-CP after registering my interest?
A: No. Registration of interest is not admission. It indicates your interest to be considered and makes you eligible for pre-allocation of required courses for the CDP-CP pathway.
16. How many units must CDP-CP students complete in total?
A: 196 units: 124 units of undergraduate courses (Years 1 to 3) + 72 units of graduate courses (Years 4 and 5), in which 36 out of 72 units will be double-counted to meet both the B.Soc.Sci. (Hons.) and the Ma.Psych. (Clin.) graduation requirements.
17. How many units may be double-counted toward both the undergraduate and graduate degree requirements?
A: Up to 36 graduate units (i.e., 50% of the graduate units) may be double-counted.
18. How will grades for double-counted courses be applied to the undergraduate and graduate GPAs?
A: Grades for double-counted courses will count toward both the undergraduate GPA and the graduate GPA.
19. What are the main undergraduate requirements for students in the CDP-CP?
A: At least 160 units, including Common Curriculum (≥52 units), Psychology major requirements (≥60 units), and Unrestricted Electives (≥48 units). All Unrestricted Electives will be fulfilled with Psychology courses. Up to 36 units from the M.Psych. (Clin.) programme may be double-counted toward the Unrestricted Electives requirement. For more information, please refer to: https://fass.nus.edu.sg/psy/cdp-cp/ > Graduation Requirements
20. Which Psychology courses do students in the CDP-CP need to read?
A: Please refer to Study Plans and Procedures
21. Who will be eligible for the Clinical Internship selection interview?
A: Students who have completed PL2131, PL2132, PL3102, PL3103, PL3104, PL3105, PL3106, and PL3257; achieved an average grade of A- (with no lower than B+ for any course) in PL2131, PL2132, PL3106, and PL3257; and submitted a letter of expression of interest.
22. What if I do not meet the prerequisites for the undergraduate Clinical Internship?
A: You will not be eligible for the Clinical Internship and will no longer be eligible for the CDP-CP.
23. How are students selected for the undergraduate Clinical Internship?
A: Selected students are interviewed in small groups. Those who pass the interview will be eligible for the Clinical Internship.
24. When will the selection interview for the undergraduate Clinical Internship take place?
A: At the beginning of Year 2, Semester 2.
25. When will students be informed of the Clinical Internship selection interview outcome?
A: Around the middle of Year 2, Semester 2.
26. What is the duration of the undergraduate Clinical Internship?
A: About 6 months (from May to November), starting in Year 2 Special Term 1 and ending in Year 3, Semester 1.
27. Is the undergraduate Clinical Internship part-time or full-time?
A: Part-time.
28. Are students on the undergraduate Clinical Internship required to take NUS courses?
A: Yes. While on internship, students must continue to take courses in Year 3 Semester 1.
29. What are the three categories of selection criteria for CDP-CP admission?
A: Category 1: Academic excellence in specified clinical-related courses and thresholds.
Category 2: Pass the undergraduate Clinical Internship (8 units).
Category 3: Performance in post-internship interview and role-play.
For more information, please refer to: https://fass.nus.edu.sg/psy/cdp-cp/ > Admission Criteria
30. When will the CDP-CP selection interview and role-play be conducted?
A: At the beginning of Year 3, Semester 2.
31. What happens if I do not meet any of the selection criteria for CDP-CP admission?
A: You will no longer be eligible for the CDP-CP.
32. When during the undergraduate journey do I apply for the CDP-CP?
A: The application window typically opens from 1 November to 15 January. Eligible students may apply for the CDP-CP upon completing the undergraduate Clinical Internship. Successful candidates will be enrolled in the CDP-CP from Year 4, Semester 1.
33. What happens if I withdraw from the CDP-CP?
