NUS FASS, Faculty Advisory Board – Dr Leslie Teo
Dr Leslie Teo is Managing Director, Data & Strategic Transformation with Great Eastern Life. He and his team are responsible for analytics, data science, and driving digital transformation.
He was former Advisor to Chief Executive Officer at Grab Holdings Inc, and prior to that Head of Data Science, Policy and Data Initiatives. In these roles, he helped Grab answer important business and social questions using its data, build productive relationships with governments, and grow its fin-tech activities including a digibank.
From 2011 - 2019, he was Director of Economics and Investment Strategy, and Chief Economist of GIC Private Limited (GIC), sovereign wealth fund. There he oversaw the team responsible for asset allocation, total portfolio construction, systematic investing, and identification of key long-term trends that would impact GIC’s portfolio.
Leslie started his career at the International Monetary Fund. In the Fund, he worked on European, Asian, and African countries, as well as in financial systems and policy departments. He was also Head of the Financial Surveillance Division at the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Leslie serves on several other advisory boards at NUS.
Leslie graduated with a Liberal Arts and Sciences degree from the University of Chicago and PhD in Economics (Finance) from the University of Rochester. He has a Master in Information and Data Science degree from the University of California at Berkeley. In addition, he is a certified Financial Risk Manager and a CFA charterholder.
