About the Talk
The presentation highlights the policing of masculinity and academic struggles that U.S. male students face within male culture. These challenges are linked to their college delay. A recent quasi-experimental study by the presenter revealed that college delay decreases male student persistence. The presentation garners insights from this study to outline directions for imagining/shaping a culture where male college delayers’ academic issues are better understood and where they are better supported to succeed in college. The presentation offers an excellent opportunity for faculty and students to discuss male student success and relevant higher education (research) issues.
