PC in Applied GIS Field course in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya as part of GE4220: Field Investigation in Physical Geography (Feb 2023). The course focused on landscapes, wildlife and human-environment interactions around Lake Baringo and Mount Kenya. Geography alumni connect with each other all the time! The Geography Class of 1990 has been meeting each other twice annually since commencing in September 1990, and they have also attended every anniversary bash organised by the Department of Geography. Friends for life, certainly! Field Studies (GE3230A) in Southeast Asia is an experiential learning course conducted in the Special Term, May-June. Congratulations to graduate student Ms Nikita Choudhary  for winning the Graduate Students' Teaching Award, for teaching undertaken in Semester 1, 2024-2025!


The annual Geography Graduate Research Workshop will take place on Friday 25 April in the Earth Lab (AS2-02-03). This annual event that is entirely organised and hosted by the Department's first year graduate research students. The theme is "World in Transition". The programme is available here.

Mr Hawazi Daipi Recognised with NUS Distinguished Arts & Social Sciences Alumni Award 2023

Mr Hawazi Daipi graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Geography from the then University of Singapore in 1978. Thereafter he obtained a Diploma in Education from the Institute of Education. He has had a illustrious public service career spanning more than 40 years.

More Educational Pathways to Develop Geoscience Talent Pipeline and Deepen Capabilities

NUS will soon be rolling out more learning and training opportunities in geospatial science following a partnership inked with the Singapore Land Authority (SLA). Through the partnership, NUS and SLA, with the support from the NUS School of Continuing and Lifelong Learning (SCALE), will develop a holistic Geospatial Professional Certificate programme that provides adult learners the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge geospatial technologies and equip them with the skills needed to fulfil their aspirations of having a geospatial career.
