Research Title: Analysing Morphological Changes of Urban Water Bodies Under Comparison of Different Urban Forms
Research Group: Tropical Environmental Change (TEC)
Thesis Advisor: Assoc Prof Wang Yi-Chen
My thesis mainly focuses on analyzing morphological changes of urban water bodies under comparison of different urban forms. Generally, I hope to extract urban water bodies within multiple typical cities around the globe based on the combined existing algorithms making analysis about their morphological changes under the impact of urban expansion. During the research, two issues are mainly concerned: (a) How to extract the area change of water bodies within multiple cities around the globe accurately over the past years since the 1980s using Landsat images? (b) How did the pattern of cities’ morphology influence the speed of water bodies' area change among different cities under different development speed, local policy, or geological location?
