Make Study Plans & Read Hard Skills Courses

Alex, a Political Science major is keen to work towards the Public Administration industry track. To facilitate planning, he would refer to the list of hard skills courses associated with his track and read at least 8 units worth of courses from two different hard skills clusters.

FASS Industry Seminar

After passing the Career Catalyst course, Alex could then register for the FAS3550 FASS Industry Seminar, and concurrently sign-up for various career skills workshops organised by CFG, to further strengthen his profile.

Embark on Internships

Alex should start searching for an internship within the Public Administration industry, through NUS TalentConnect, in Year 2 or 3. Upon securing an internship, Alex can get it registered as a credit-bearing internship course under the FASS Internship Programme. Alex could consider a global internship in Year 2 to gain internship exposure (and to affirm his interest), followed by the track-specific internship in Year 3, for localised experience.

Receive Mentorship & Expand Professional Network

In his 3rd year, Alex would participate in the FAS3551 FASS Capstone Career Preparation course, to receive mentorship guidance from an FASS alumni mentor in the Public Administration Industry. He should also actively attend recruitment and networking events to expand his professional network, in preparation for his job search.

Intensify Job Search

In the first semester of his final year, Alex should be actively attending career fairs and applying for jobs. He should be working very closely with his Career Advisor to sharpen his CV and interviewing skills tailored to the roles.

Nail the Offer

By adopting a targeted and systematic approach when planning his university journey, Alex would have acquired relevant industrial knowledge that complements his FASS education, as well as a repertoire of hard and soft skills essential to nail an offer in his chosen field, by the time he graduates. Upon fulfilling all the requirements in FASS 2.0 Industry Tracks, the Faculty will issue a track-specific certificate to him.
