• The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences staff, students and the NUS Economics Alumni brought smiles to patients at the SingHealth’s Outram and Sengkang Community Hospitals via two virtual engagement sessions on 7 September 2021.

On 7 September 2021, as part of the annual NUS Day of Service, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences staff, students and the NUS Economics Alumni brought smiles to patients at the SingHealth’s Outram and Sengkang Community Hospitals via two virtual engagement sessions.

The e-event began with a guided warm-up exercise, followed by an exciting line-up of games including Bingo and Guess the Song facilitated by our External Relations and Student Life team. Despite the sessions being online, everyone interacted enthusiastically and participants won attractive prizes and goodies along the way.

“The SingHealth Community Hospitals and NUS Economics Alumni are wonderful partners and we have been working together for several years to hold these events. I am sure that we will continue to collaborate in a meaningful way,” shared Associate Professor Loy Hui Chieh, FASS Vice Dean of External Relations and Student Life, who joined one of the sessions.

“I am very delighted that the National University of Singapore is collaborating with SingHealth Community Hospitals for the NUS Day of Service. It is a meaningful way to give back to society and I look forward to strengthening our partnership in the years to come,” said Mr Tan Tai Kiat, Chief Operating Officer, SingHealth Community Hospitals, as part of the sessions’ openings.

“I am heartened that the FASS community prepared fun activities for us to be part of even though the event was online. It is a pleasure to see my friends and the FASS community enjoying themselves and I liked that I got to interact with others during the games”, said a participant.

The patients also had the opportunity to enjoy a video performance by the FASS Choir with local songs such as Home, closing the event on a resonating note.
