“Asian Religions and Public Engagement” features colleagues from the National University of Singapore in dialogue with crucial issues in the field of Asian religions. Moderated by Jack Meng-Tat Chia, the roundtable addresses concerns regarding research on religion, interactions between researchers and practitioners, and possibilities on the study of Asian religions and public engagement. Roundtable participants Kenneth Dean, Azhar Ibrahim, Irving Johnson and Neena Mahadev will discuss the study of Asian religions, including Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Taoism, in diverse regions. They will present various approaches to communicate knowledge on Asian religions that bridges intellectual boundaries between scholars of religion and non-academic knowledge on Asian religions. Panelists will also share their insights from their research and public engagement. Following discussion among the panelists, we will open the floor to audience questions.
