NUS FASS, Faculty Advisory Board – Mrs Chua-Lim Yen Ching

Mrs Chua-Lim is the Deputy Director-General of Education (Professional Development) at the Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore.

She was conferred the Public Administration Gold Medal at the 2020 National Day Awards by the Prime Minister’s Office for her numerous contributions to education in Singapore. This followed the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) she received in 1999, and the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2017.

Her career in education spans 40 years, during which she has served as a teacher, principal and policy maker. Highlights include her leadership as Director of  Curriculum Planning and Development Division at MOE in the development of primary to pre-university curricula, Executive Director Academy of Singapore Teachers and Deputy Director- General of Education (Professional Development)

She played a pivotal role as founding principal of Northlight School, an institution offering enhanced vocational education, from 2006 to 2011.

She is also a strong champion and supporter of the National Olympiad teams, and a Vice-President of the Singapore Girl Guides movement.

She received the Sng Yew Chong Medal for the Diploma in Education Programme in 1981 and the Ruth Wong Medal for the Diploma in Education Administration Programme in 1993.
