NUS FASS, Faculty Advisory Board – Mr Frederick Yeo

In his current appointment as Director of Educational Leadership and School Excellence at the MOE, Frederick leads a team of senior education leaders in supporting school principals, vice-principals and key personnel in their leadership development, as well as in their school improvement and excellence journey.

Prior to his current appointment, he was the Principal of Raffles Institution from 2018 to 2023. As P/RI, he had the privilege to lead the institution in supporting the holistic development of its high-ability students and capped his stint with the institution’s bicentennial celebrations (200th anniversary) in 2023. He was also the founding Principal of Crest Secondary School from 2012 to 2017, Singapore’s first specialised school for Normal (Technical) students and a subsidiary of the Institute of Technical Education (ITE). Before these appointments, he was Deputy Headmaster (Development) at RI in 2006 and was first appointed Principal of Bowen Secondary School from 2008 to 2011.

Frederick is an NUS alumnus. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours in Geography) from FASS in 1996. He thoroughly enjoyed his FASS years, having established warm relations with his geography lecturers then, such as Dr Carl Grundy-Warr, A/P Peggy Teo, A/P Shirlena Huang and Prof Lily Kong, to name a few.

Frederick received the National Day Public Administration Medal (Silver) and Long Service Medal in 2020 and the National Day Commendation Medal in 2007.
