The NUS Centre for Language Studies is turning 20 this year and celebrating the occasion by offering free culture workshops and trial language classes

The Centre for Language Studies is 20 years old!
The Centre for Language Studies (CLS) was established in 2001 to serve the foreign language needs of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the National University of Singapore. As of today, there are more than 100 full-time and part-time faculty members at the CLS, who teach thirteen different languages–ten Asian languages and three official EU languages, namely Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Spanish, Tamil, Thai and Vietnamese–to over 3,300 students per semester and helps them acquire a very valuable economic and social resource in today's world of growing globalisation and internationalisation.
To commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the CLS’ founding, we have prepared for fun-filled celebratory activities throughout the next 12 months, including free virtual workshops, each one focusing on a different language and culture, and even trial lessons for the thirteen languages offered at the CLS. We look forward to your active participation, and hope that it will inspire you to embark on the exciting and fulfilling journey of learning a foreign language with us!”
