Pre-Departure

Everything is ready and you are all set to go. What will my student status be when I go for SEP?

CourseReg - previously known as ModReg

Registrar’s Office will automatically reflect your status as away on student exchange in the semester that you are on exchange.

For those of you heading to Japan and certain European universities, due to the timing of the semester, you may not know at the start of semester if you are confirmed to leave for SEP, therefore you should participate in course registration. Email to Study Abroad@FASS to request for your status to be changed to "Current". Once your SEP is confirmed by the partner university, you can send an email to Study Abroad@FASS to change your student status to reinstate your exchange status and your courses will be dropped without attracting any penalty (Do this before the W grade week kicks in). You will need to do this as failure to drop the courses before you leave can result in ‘F’ grades. This also extends to students who are not sure about their ability to participate in SEP, for example pending visa approval.

Should you decide to withdraw or if your application is rejected by the partner university, please inform us through Study Abroad@FASS. This is important as it has implications on your registration of courses in CourseReg, and other administrative matters.

I am not sure of all the things I need to do or pack prior to my departure. Is there a checklist that can help me?

The Global Relations Office has a really good checklist, which gives a comprehensive list of necessary items to pack for your exchange stay.

I have more questions about pre-departure. Are there pre-departure sessions?

GRO conducts pre-departure briefings; please look out for them in your email. You are highly encouraged to go for it and to meet other students heading to the same or surrounding partner university for your country or region.

You can find here, resource from FASS for academic/administrative matters before departure.
