Scholarship for Overseas Study and Fieldworks

Often our partners offer opportunities to our students in terms of scholarship for overseas studies and fieldwork. We encourage students to apply for these chances to gain more overseas educational exposure.

Funding Assistance for Joint/ Double Degree Programmes (DDP/JDP)

If you wish to apply for financial assistance as part of your joint or double degree programme, you may want to apply for the Graduate SEP Funds (GSEP) which is also applicable for students under JDP/DDP. This funding is not applicable for attendance at overseas graduate workshop, overseas fieldtrip and overseas conferences.

How to Apply?
Once you have been approved for enrollment in the programme. You will then need to work with your supervisor to prepare these documents listed below and then submit these items to your Head of Department and your application will then be considered by the Division of Graduate Studies c/o Vice-Dean (Graduate Studies).

Once your Head of Department has endorsed your application, please submit with all the supporting documents to Dean's Office, 6th Floor, AS7 c/o International- MAO.

Items Required:

  1. Graduate SEP Application Form
  2. Co-supervisor/ mentor's written confirmation of the co-supervision of the students while he is overseas;
  3. A paper of the student's field-study plan, research direction and scope.

Upon Approval

Once you receive your approval for the programme, you may be given a list of documents and asked to prepare them to be submitted to DRGS for their onward submission to the partner university to complete the enrollment cycle. You will be given a deadline to do so and you will need to adhere to the deadline strictly.

This Joint Scholarship Program (JSP) is open for young faculty at HYI partner institutions in Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia to complete a Ph.D. at FASS. Candidates will be expected to spend about 12-18 months for their dissertation research at Harvard or another approved American university. The areas of research focus on East and Southeast Asian Studies, either with a disciplinary or interdisciplinary approach.
