About Us

The GL Louis Religious Pluralism Research Cluster, funded by an endowment established via a generous gift to honor Mr. Gnanapragasam Louis’ memory, aims to foster the academic study of religious pluralism and diverse religious traditions. This research cluster seeks to explore the multifaceted landscape of religious diversity in Asia and beyond, providing a platform for interdisciplinary research and collaboration within the field of Religious Studies at FASS. With the growing complexity of religious identities and interactions in contemporary society, there is an urgent need to examine the dynamics of conflict, coexistence, and cooperation among various religious communities. Therefore, this cluster seeks to provide a scholarly platform to host events that can facilitate conversations among academics, practitioners, as well as the general public. We explore religious pluralism in the context of cultural, historical, and socio-political dimensions, aiming to deepen our understanding of its implications for contemporary society.
