MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Dear alumni, colleagues and friends of FASS,

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is home to a long line of alumni from different fields, people who have contributed to society in myriad ways, be it in public service, the corporate world, and volunteerism. Many of our early alumni were pioneering figures in the development of Singapore, without whom, the young nation would not be what it is today. In 2015, we held the inaugural FASS Distinguished Alumni Awards and this year we are very happy to hold the second FASS Distinguished Alumni Awards to recognise those who have shown excellence in various fields locally and internationally, and in appreciation of their contributions to the Nation, the University, the Faculty and the Community.

Alongside the Alumni Awards, we also celebrate the remarkable achievements of our faculty and staff in the areas of research, teaching and service, and at the same time, honour those who have dedicated years in long service in FASS. We applaud the multi-faceted talent in our midst, and recognise the initiative and dedication that these individuals have shown in going the distance.

We are thankful and proud that we are able to call the alumni and our faculty being honoured tonight part of the FASS family.

THE FASS DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARDS

The Distinguished Arts and Social Sciences Alumni Award was established in 2015 to recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to the Nation, Community, University, and/or Faculty, and/or dedicated themselves to the betterment and promotion of the arts and social sciences.

It is our honour to acknowledge and extend our appreciation to the many men and women in our alumni family who have served and contributed brilliantly in various capacities, towards Singapore’s nation-building and the growth of the University and Faculty.
